Midnight clicks…

Few weeks ago there was a full moon and I could not resist but go out late at night to do some clicking… I did discover though why they said getting a full moon is a bit difficult because it is so bright. However I did manage to get some great shots of the Furzton Lake while I was at it…

It may not seem like it is midnight but there was a very bright moon causing everything to glow!

Wafflehouse and the Luton Hoo Hotel

A long overdue post! I have a list of things to write about for my blog, and this was entered a month or so back!

So yeah ages ago, my mate Ali posted a wicked picture of a waffle on his facebook! So there I was asking him to take me there, specially since he had already gone on about how great the place was.

Anyways, it turned up that this place was the famous Wafflehouse and boy do these guys know their waffles!

We have a couple in England, one in Norfolk and another in St Albans. We went to the St Albans one, which is based inside an old windmill! Quite lovely and historical!

I did not take any pictures but visit the following link to get a flavour!

So once we had had our waffles, we thought we’ll take the scenic route back to Luton, where Ali lives. On the way we passed through the Luton Hoo Hotel.

A hotel with its own golf park, some real posh buildings and beautiful gardens. Quite an interesting place to live. We have a manor next to where I work, which is sort of the same. But boy would I love to just stay in this place! Sadly it is too near to my house so there is no real reason. They do serve afternoon tea though so most probably I will go there some day for that!

Monologue

So I saw you, after almost an year.

You said hello to everyone present, and I waved back.

Me in a different world… you in a different world.

Me… happily giggling away with the guys as we ate… You supporting a big tummy!

It was so different from the last time.

I did not feel anything.

Anything at all.

Last you had complained that I had been awkward.

This time it was you.

I moved on. Did you?

The monologues

Monologues… it shall be a series of things I say to myself.

Most of you shall not be able to make out what I mean, or getting at. You may find two monologues together that mean the exact opposite!

My point in telling you this is that if you feel confused you might as well ignore it…

You are of course welcome to throw in your two pennies if you feel like it!

One for Hotel California fans!

Sadly this is only for people who understand Urdu/Hindi and perhaps Punjabi… but my oh my this has to be the best cover I have ever heard of Hotel California… well okay not a cover… but still… ENJOY !!!

And yes, I just had to post it!!! Great lyrics, good guitar work, and not bad vocals too!!!

The shuffle on Iphone/Ipod Touch OS 3.0

So among the various features the new OS3.0 had offered, one was that of Shake to shuffle, or basically give your thingamabob a bit of a shake to shift to the next track whenever you are listening to music.

I installed the OS3.0 and gave it a go the very next day! I normally listen to music in my car and while I tried it, it worked only about 20% of the time. I had a similar experience when the car was not moving (assuming the car’s movement could have been inhibiting the accelerometer’s performance!).

However, the other day, I was walking about a street when I was suddenly reminded of the shake to shuffle feature. I had forgotten about it, and only when I heard snippets from about 20 songs while I went through about a 100 yards was I reminded of it.

It was raining and I did not want to bring it out to stop it from happening!

So I tried walking slower. Would not stop!

Walking on smoother land helped, but just about.

It was not till I had actually set foot in the train and sat myself down that the thing stopped bothering me.

And by then, it was too late!

The fact that the feature was designed/advertised keeping work out sessions and jogs/walks in mind, I think this classifies it as a big fail.

What have your experiences been?

Blogging through Office 2007

So there are a few blogging writers out there, and normally I use Windows Live Writer... but a friend of mine mentioned that actually the new Word has this option in it too... so here I am ... just testing how this goes!

Obviously the benefits would be managing to edit your post just like you would edit any other thing in Word... to the MAX!!!

1 - Just checking out the features...

Of course one can throw hyperlinks to various things in here too easily... like my Twitter account, or Facebook even! (yeah... I am not giving that out :P)

Using
fonts
of
all
sorts!

And the other advantages one gets with word... Right.. now I shall be pressing the 'Publish' button and see how it goes!

Monologues

Last night I scared myself.
And not in a good thrilling way!
In an oh my God, who am I way...

Instincts, subconscious, genii

Imagine a number of objects moving horizontally in front of you, from right to left. They are all separated by a distance x m and moving at a speed y m/s. You are stood at rest, hence a speed of 0 m/s. Your objective is to calculate your acceleration such that you are able to fit yourself in the gap X between any two of those objects without obviously hitting them.

Sounds a bit complicated? Or at least a tiring equation you really do not want to get into?

Well interestingly, all of us do these equations every day in our head. The above is when you have to turn left on a road, judging your acceleration when you pull off, and obviously avoiding a collision with oncoming cars.

The only difference is, we do not calculate everything in our head. We just see, judge, and pull off! Yet somewhere deep down, we are subconsciously calculating everything. Though not in the same terms as I explained!

One may argue that this is more down to practise than anything else. Well I remember a teacher of ours (Moeen would know) who used to write these complex communication equations in front of us and then think for a moment and give a round figure. That was him quickly calculating a few things, but also using his years of practise and experience to get to those results quicker than what it would take us using calculators.

So what statement am I making here? That our subconscious is a genius? That we can train our subconscious through practise? Or that we are all born with instincts that we should learn to trust rather than mistrust.

I do not know! I leave it in your hands!

(PS… you can see I am being highly geeky at work these days… lol)

Twightmare

Yeah, you read that right!

Insomnia is not only back it is back with the interspersed nightmares!

And last night, I think I had a first!

I had a nightmare which was going on ON twitter!

Yeap!

Do not remember the details, but all I know is something horrific was up and I was basically following it on twitter and feeling utterly miserable.

Maybe I need to stop spending so much time on twitter.

Or maybe… I should go to sleep !
